SMART Papers manufactures products that are registered and certified:
- Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification; FSC Chain of Custody Registration (SCS-COC-00673).
- The Climate Registry – Participation in North America’s largest, multinational non-profit 501(c)3 climate initiative to facilitate the accurate, transparent, consistent, third-party validated measurement of greenhouse gases across borders.
- Kromekote® Recycled, Knightkote® Matte are manufactured with a minimum of 30% up to 100% post consumer waste.
- Knightkote® Matte is manufactured with 50% total recycled fiber including 40% post-consumer waste.

- Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Certification – SMART Papers purchases SFI certified pulp and supports the AF&PA initiative.
- Canadian Standards Association Sustainable Forest Management (CAN/CSA-Z809) Certification – SMART Papers purchases Canadian SFI certified pulp.
- U.S. Green Building Council LEED Rating System
- California Proposition 65 – Safe Drinking Water & Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
- EPA 40 CFR Part 83 (Ozone Depleting Substances).
- Our products are process chlorine-free (PCF) and elemental chlorine-free (ECF).
- Ohio Pollution Prevention Internship Program - sponsors college internship with hands-on opportunities to learn, teach and further environmental goals of pollution prevention and conservation.
